Summary This position is accountable for supporting Project Managers in the Product and Process Development Groups in the development and formulation of new products, line extensions, and processes consistent with the identified strategies of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Participate in the development of new products, line extensions, product formulations, product improvements and support from concept through commercial scale-up.
2. Lead the development and implementation of technical action plans for specific phases of projects. Report and record progress and results of technical work to the Project Manager, Marketing, and senior management as appropriate
3. Lead the development and/or formulation of products and\or processes under the direction of the Project Manager and clearly demonstrate product acceptability and process capability.
4. Supervise laboratory, pilot plant, and plant tests in the development of products, processes, and equipment., Analyze and report result. Lead new product start-ups at production facilities by participating in production or quality assurance activities.
5. Keep abreast of advances in food research and new and emerging technologies through technical seminars, technical publications, etc. Conduct literature searches as required to support project work.
Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of “What We Stand For” and “The Basic Principles.”
Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.

This job may be required to effectively direct Technologists and\or Lab Assistants
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Two year Associates degree in a Science, Math, or Food related field; or 10 years experience in the food industry is the minimum requirement. Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering are preferred or Bachelor of the Arts degree (B. A.) in Science, Math, or Food field from a four-year college or university is preferred.
Language Skills
Must have strong ability to communicate through written and oral presentations. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, \customers, and suppliers. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical analysis , and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Must have the Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook . The must also be able to learn and use effectively internal custom applications such as TIMEX, Optiva, and ADAGE.
