National Account Manager, Central (SuperValu, Target)
Summary
The National Account Manager, Central is responsible for achieving volume and profit objectives and maintaining and improving sales strategies for the SuperValu, Target, and regional accounts. The National Account Manager serves as a leader and point-of-contact for the account to develop mutually-beneficial initiatives to increase sales, profit and market share. This position collaborates with multi-functional resources to create and deliver go-to-market strategies, business processes, and other market-based initiatives. The National Account Manager also serves as a leader in the development and execution of effective and profitable business plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create and drive implementation of all account specific business plans including assortment, pricing, growth targets, financial objectives, growth initiatives, and merchandising strategies, based on consumer research and insights. Develop, implement, and evaluate sales promotion plans, utilization of market development funds and merchandising ideas, and ensure execution, review, and tracking of all plans and programs.
2. Lead, cultivate and leverage customer relationship and quickly establish a strong rapport with the key decision makers of the customer’s senior management team. Promote and maintain a positive rapport with customer account executives to maximize potential opportunities, identify customer needs and further develop key initiatives.
3. Identify business opportunities, set and communicate priorities, and coordinate resources to deliver optimum sales, support and operational performance for each assigned account. Accurately forecast customer volume based on acquired customer and industry knowledge. Work cross-functionally with other BAF departments to provide a multi-disciplined team based sales approach.
4. Measure, monitor and evaluate account performance on an on-going basis and make appropriate adjustments as needed. Develop reports, sales projections, opportunity pipelines and other documentation as requested. Ensure sales team provides timely notice of key market events, price changes, new product introductions, competitive activity, and potential problems or opportunities.

Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint, Word Processing software, and Database software (IRI, syndicated data). Additionally, an individual should be proficient with Internet software.

· Strong retail and customer experience with the SuperValu and Target accounts.
· Exceptional people management, negotiation, account management, strategic selling, category management, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated history of managing and growing sales revenues, and achieving tough, demanding goals.
· Excellent transformational leadership abilities and knowledge to create a win-win situation between customers and BAF, and to work across a broad range of functional areas.
· Results-oriented self-starter with an ability to work on independent initiatives.
· Strategic thinker with ability to seize opportunities in emerging markets; execute objectives, performance metrics, deadlines, and milestones; translate strategy into actionable plans.
· Experience and understanding of leading edge sales strategies and techniques.
· Strong analytical and research skills with an interest in gaining knowledge of customers, products, and industry trends.
Other Qualifications
Travel at least 50% of the time.
