ANOTHER WAY BAF IS MAKING THINGS BETTER
For Basic American Foods, “Making Things Better” is more than just words. It’s a value that can be found in almost everything we do as a company. A big part of that value is a dedication to giving back to our community – and that starts at the top with the BAF leadership team.
As has become a welcome part of our annual BAF leadership retreat, our team took time during the most recent meeting in Boise to get outside the meeting rooms and volunteer in the community – the 50 attendees helped out at three different Boise-area organizations.
Located in Blaine Country where 35% of residents are food insecure or very close to it, The Hunger Coalition serves 17% of their community from their food pantry. BAF pitched in and help harvest the season’s last fruits and veggies (which of course included potatoes), winterize the gardens and pull up plants. (www.thehungercoalition.org)
Higher Ground USA uses recreational activities as a form of therapy to help veterans suffering from anxiety, depression and PTSD improve their psychological and physical health and well-being. The BAF team cleaned buses, cleaned yoga mats, inventoried sporting equipment, and organized donor documentation. (www.highergroundusa.org)
Sawtooth Botanical Garden prides itself on a place to celebrate plants and inspire people. They strive to build community through the understanding and exploration of the unique ecology of the inter-mountain west region. BAF employees helped build potting workbenches, install shelving, and dig trenches. (www.sbgarden.org)
Giving back to the community is by no means limited to our BAF leaders as we encourage all salaried employees to take advantage of our Service Day program, which offers a dedicated day off each year to serve others in the community for a cause that is personally meaningful. It’s important way for us as a company to live our value of “Making Things Better” all-year round.Back to posts
