Baked Black Beans

Sweet and spicy baked black beans with brown sugar and Latin spices. Easy prep recipe is perfect for schools or large volume operators.

Baked Black Beans

Ingredients

1  pch Santiago® Seasoned Vegetarian Black Beans
1/2  cup Brown sugar
2  tsp Cumin
2  tsp Chili powder
2  qt Water, boiling (190°-212°F)

Instructions

  1. Heat convection oven to 350°F.
  2. Stir together Santiago® Seasoned Vegetarian Black Beans, sugar, cumin, chili powder and water in a 6-inch deep, third-steamtable pan. Cover with parchment paper and then foil.
  3. Bake until beans are fully hydrated and mixture is thick, about 20 min. Remove from oven, uncover, stir and let rest 5 min in steamtable before serving.
