Holiday promotions
New Year's Day.
Ring in the New Year with a “New Year Old Favorites” special menu. Offer your customers all their favorite comfort foods, such as meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and apple pie. Favorites might include Old Tavern Sausage & Potatoes, Chicken with Potato Dumplings, and Country Style
Shepherd's Pie.
President's Day.
Menu inserts and placemats filled with American history trivia are fun, interactive treats for President's Day. Give guests “Washingtons Off” their meals if they can correctly identify which president appears on which bill. And since February is “Potato Lover's Month,” serve a different flavored mashed potato each day—like Cheddar Cheese or Sour Cream & Chive Mashed Potatoes. For bolder flavors, see the selections in our Bold Inspirations brochure.
St. Patrick’s Day.
Ireland is known for potatoes, so building a potato promotion around St. Patrick’s Day is perfect. A dash of green food coloring in mashed potatoes will delight kids and adults alike. Or serve the traditional Colcannon (Irish Potatoes and Cabbage). Create a St. Patrick’s Breakfast with Corned Beef Hash and Potato Cakes. For luck and atmosphere, use small pots of clover as table centerpieces.
April Fool's Day.
Play a game of wits with your customers. If they can stump the cashier/cook/waitstaff with a riddle, they receive a “Rain Check” for a free order of Nature's Own® Premium Hashbrowns with their next breakfast order.
Cinco de Mayo.
Decorate with paper flowers, sombreros, piñatas, and maps of Mexico. Play mariachi music and create placemats explaining the history behind the holiday. Feature a full Mexican menu starting with Chili Con Queso Dip as an appetizer and Santiago® Seasoned Beans as a side dish. Add a main dish using Santiago® Refried Beans for Bean & Chicken Enchiladas.
Mother's Day and Father's Day.
Give mom and dad a break from cooking dinner. Offer home delivery on these special occasions so the kids can serve their parents. Foods such as mashed and au gratin potatoes are family favorites that travel well. See our “Tap Into Takeout” brochure for great menu ideas.
Flag Day and Fourth of July.
Show your patriotism by inserting flag toothpicks in mashed potatoes and other dishes. Have your staff dress in red, white, and blue, and hold a sweepstakes to give away a full-size American flag. Make your mashed potatoes red, white, and blue, and serve them layered in parfait glasses. See our Cool Colors brochure for the “How To.”
Bastille Day.
Give your waitstaff French cheat sheets so they can parlez français with your guests. Feature your sandwiches on croissants instead of bread, serve French bottled water instead of tap, and French vanilla ice cream instead of regular. Offer Pautée au Potat, a flavorful Mashed Potato Pie, as a main course and
Potato Cakes Provance as a side.
Labor Day.
Pamper your customers by encouraging them to take the whole day off by letting you do the cooking. Offer bundled specials that can be picked up the day before so your staff can have a holiday from the kitchen too. Have pans of Vegetarian Chili, Swiss Scalloped Potatoes, and Creamy Mashed Potato Salad ready to go.
Halloween.
Create a treat for your kid customers by turning regular mashed potatoes into monsters! Use on-hand items such as shredded cheese, olives, raisins, and baby carrots to create a variety of edible ghosts and goblins. See our Hot Scoops program for ideas.
Columbus Day.
Go Italian! Create a festive Italian feeling in your café or restaurant by putting up Italian flags and bunting. Serve grilled chicken or roast beef and our Italian Country Potatoes.
Thanksgiving.
For customers who love the hearty fare of Thanksgiving, but would prefer not to make it themselves, offer a “Thanksgiving for the Taking” promotion where traditional foods such as carved turkey breast, stuffing, and mashed potatoes with gravy are conveniently bundled for to-go orders. Nature's Own® Potato Pearls® Premium Mashed Potatoes are quick and easy to prepare and give you great melt-in-your-mouth taste.
