Business Building Ideas for the New Economy
Business Building Ideas for the New Economy

In the new economic reality facing all Americans, customers’ demands have shifted. Price counts more than ever. Comfort is key. Today’s LTOs stay true to the operation’s brand, spurring excitement while enhancing interest in the entire menu.
Operators rely on limited-time menu offers more than ever to attract customers. Capitalize on the power of menu specials and LTOs to earn more profit and build your brand:
- Use the recipes in Menu Economics as stand-alone specials or pair them with smaller protein offerings.
- Review competitors’ menus to analyze trends and popular flavors. Look at your own core menu to determine concepts with the highest appeal to your customer base.
- Rely on familiar flavors, ingredients and cooking methods—for example, Mexican-style main courses, mashed potato bowls, casseroles, soups and chowders, and comfort breakfast items—and give them a compelling feature.
- Work with trusted supplier partners to use their cost-saving products in menu ideas that communicate “premium” and “special.”
- Price specials higher than the rest of the menu while keeping price points approachable.
- Promote “only for a limited time” to build excitement, and regularly refresh the specials menu with new dishes.
