Away-from-home breakfast sales are growing, but remain a major underdeveloped opportunity for both limited- and full-service restaurants, according to recent research by Technomic.“Americans understand the importance of eating breakfast every day, but they have less time than ever to prepare breakfast at home,” says Keith Darling, Basic American Foods’ corporate chef. “That’s a benefit to operators who can offer flavorful and convenient breakfast solutions.”
Traditional breakfast items with a twist are capturing more customers because they marry the familiar with a tweak of innovation, creating irresistible menu interest, Darling says. Consider these great-tasting ideas:
