Sales & Marketing Analyst


Sales & Marketing Analyst   Walnut Creek, CA

Basic Function:
The Sales and Marketing Analyst will work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to analyze key performance indicators and business processes supported by application software. The candidate must have a strong business process focus and be able to work closely with non-technical people. Responsibilities include but not limited to: 1. Develop a strong understanding of the BAF Sales and Marketing processes. 2. Work with Sales Information Manager to oversee sales data integrity within Business Intelligence environment as a member of the Data Management Steering Committee. Act as data steward for sales information 3. Provide Sales Analytics support across all departments in the enterprise. 4. Develop and implement the Sales Incentive budget process and administer the Broker Commission process. 5. Gather business requirements from Sales and Marketing users, translate into functional specification or develop prototype, work with Information Technology to develop, test and implement sales reports as needed. 6. Provide Customer Contact software (CRM) technical support to Customer Service, Sales and Marketing departments and work closely with the Information Technology team. This position requires that the incumbent be a member of system implementation project teams as required. The position reports to the Manager, Sales Information.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities (in order of importance):

  1. Analyze and implement industry best practices. Support the implementation of business processes supported by software to meet the strategic and operating goals of the company. Continually stay abreast of information about new hardware technology, which could enhance the effectiveness of the Sales and Marketing Managers and their departments. Sources include outside training, seminars and self-training.
  2. Manage the sales budgeting process by spreading annual sales budgets to all levels of the sales team. Maintain and manage budget changes on an ongoing basis. Provide analysis relative to the impact of new products, geography realignment, and/or customer changes.
  3. Perform the role of Sales Information Expert. Design and write Standard Query Language (SQL) procedures. Analyze data and generate valuable information for the Sales and Marketing team. Maintain data tables, coordinate salesperson, brokerage commissions, accountability, geography, and responsibility codes. Provide training support for all approved software.
  4. Oversee customer contact databases including but not limited to importing new lists, develop reports per requirements from sales management, identify duplicate records and run merge/purge procedures and extract new data.
  5. Process monthly brokerage payments including retroactive payments.
  6. Participate in the development of the annual Foodservice Sales Business plans and the successful execution of these plans.
  7. Demonstrate a daily commitment to the Continuous Improvement Process and practice the Basic Principles.

 

Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Education and/or Experience:
    • The position requires an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience. A strong business background required with at least 5 years of progressively more responsible roles. A minimum of two years experience in database management is necessary including experience with written procedures using SQL or other data base query languages. • Experience must also include sales planning and reporting, complex spreadsheet design and working with other PC software. • A proven track record in evaluating and mastering new software is required to meet the challenging demands of sophisticated information systems.
  • Language Skills:
    • Solid working knowledge of Database concepts and relational data base design is required.
    • Demonstrated proficiency and ability to rapidly learn two or more of the following: SQL language for database access, Data warehousing and Business Intelligence, relational data base programming, and ability to work with commercially available off the shelf solutions.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on statistical methods and logic analysis. Incumbent has the ability to solve problems involving remote and elusive symptoms often spanning multiple environments in a business area. Promotes team ownership information and projects and avoids personal control.
  • Computer Skills:
    • The individual should have advanced proficiency in the following tools: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Query Analyzer, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Word. Working knowledge of relational databases, such as MS SQL Server. Some knowledge of Crystal Reporting, Infor Enterprise Resource Planning, Hyperion Performance, and Sales Logix.
  • Physical Demands:
    • The position requires use of computer monitor and keyboard with the ability to enter data on a computer for extended periods of time. The incumbent must also be able to lift and carry equipment and materials as required.
  • Work Environment:
    • The position is located in a corporate business office with moderate noise levels. Occasional travel required of the incumbent.
