Michael Villano

Vice President, Foodservice

Mike Villano is the Vice President of Foodservice for Basic American Foods. He joined BAF in 2002 as the Director of National Accounts.

Before joining BAF, Mike was Vice President of National Accounts at French’s Foodservice, where he was responsible for national account sales and marketing. He also held the position of Director of Special Markets with Campbell Global Foodservice and was a Zone Manager with Nestlé. He holds a BS in retail business management from Southern New Hampshire University.

One of Mike’s contributions to BAF that has had the greatest impact is the development of a strong go-to-market strategy in foodservice and a strong Foodservice Leadership team – securing the necessary resources for team success, and sharing of product development time, technology, training and education. He put together the Foodservice Leadership team with the goal of creating a cohesive unit that is aligned toward a common strategy with a focused set of tactics, and he places great value in instilling passion in the team. He tries hard to eliminate non-value-added activities and focus on the biggest opportunities.

Mike is known for his experience in the industry and as a restaurant operator, which helps him understand customer needs. Mike likes to be with the sales team in front of customers, and uses his background to help team members see things from a customer’s perspective.

In his personal life, Mike is passionate about working hard to provide for his family and to give his kids the best possible life education and schooling. Lessons that he hopes they will learn are responsibility, loyalty, honesty, hard work, trust, confidence and the ability to dream big and have big goals. On the weekends you can find Mike outdoors: biking, golfing or hiking.

An involved member of his community, Mike volunteers with Meals on Wheels, Loaves & Fishes and Good Works in Pennsylvania – a nonprofit organization that repairs homes for low-income homeowners. They replace windows, leaky roofs and plumbing to ensure a safe environment for people.
