Associate Process Engineer
BASIC FUNCTION:
Works under the Director, Lean Operations and receives direction from both the Director and Project Managers – Processing. Has complete responsibility for small projects and participates in large project teams. Uses education and basic skills to solve engineering problems while improving skills in leadership, testing and trouble shooting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs the duties of a Process Engineer:
· Resolves processing problems involving profitability, capacity, product quality, or waste disposal.
· Spends a majority of the time on the lines learning the processes, conducting tests, making material/energy balances, and carrying out assignments.
· Demonstrates a strong team effort either as team leader or member.
· Issues verbal and written communications to report results, maintain coordination, and update management (including frequent updates to Process Engineering Manager).
· Applies Lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve quality.
As experience and skills increase, the entry level engineer becomes a candidate for advancement in engineering or other departments.
Practices the Basic Principles and encourages other by words and actions to do the same.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education and/or Experience: Possesses a B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or demonstrates mastery of a specific process important to the company. Has a thorough grounding in the engineering principles with 0 to 5 years experience. Should have appropriate computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
· Leadership: Leads out whether by assignment or personal initiative.
· Language Skills: Demonstrates an ability to articulate well (verbally and in writing) to meet high BAF standards.
· Reasoning Ability: Shows high intellectual ability by finding opportunity in problems, determining influential factors among multiple variables, and adapting successes from other fields of work.
· Social Requirements: Must demonstrate a positive attitude, interact well with all levels at BAF and outside companies, and influence group efforts in a dynamic way to achieve targeted goals.
· Physical Demands: Meet travel requirements, which is normally 25 to 50 percent, but may be higher for short periods.
Work is conducted in office, plant, and outdoor areas with conditions ranging from mild to severe.
