Human Resources Manager
Summary
Plans and administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure the ongoing coaching, development and training of staff, process performance appraisals and salary actions in a timely manner, and provide for an effective productive work environment. Exhibit leadership and general management skills in an effective manner. Plan and administer the annual operating budget.
2. Coach and consult with line management/leaders by recommending, initiating, implementing and interpreting policies and processes to ensure that the management of human assets is carried out in a consistent and equitable manner in order to maintain a productive work environment.
3. Manage employee relations including planning, proposing and directing policy. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of our handbook to safeguard the company’s ability to effectively run its operations. Serve as a representative of the Company for community and public relation opportunities.
4. Manage the selection/staffing process to ensure that hiring and promotional activities are in compliance with Company policy and legal requirements. Serve as EEO Coordinator and ensure compliance with Affirmative Action and other applicable laws. Develop and administer local employee orientation.
5. Establish and maintain effective safety and security programs meeting regulatory compliance. Ensure that adequate records are maintained and develop policies as required. Develop and implement employee training and development initiatives directed toward meeting strategic, compliance, productivity improvement, and employee development goals.
6. Administer salary and benefit processes, including a working knowledge of health and retirement plans, within established Company policy and practices. When appropriate, recommend changes to current processes.
Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of “What We Stand For” and “The Basic Principles.”
Actively involved in the behavior based safety process. Completes behavior based safety audits throughout each month. Ensures unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Human Resources Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 4-5 years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
PHR or SPHR preferred.
Other Qualifications
This position will require 5 - 10% travel.
